We haz it!
We closed on Friday, a week or 10 days earlier than we were expecting. Apparently in NY state it's perfectly normal that they'll call you up on a Tuesday (for example) and ask if you want to close Friday morning. Of course, they can't actually tell you how much money to bring until 4:10 on Thursday afternoon... The closing was at 10 am, and our bank opens at 9am, so we went there, got the big certified check, and then went downtown to our lawyer's office. Many signatures later (I wish I'd been counting!) our realtor gave us the key tied to a bottle of wine.
We spent the weekend doing a lot of work--we won't actually move in until the 13th--and doing our part to stimulate the economy by buying a LOT of things at both Lowe's and Home Depot.
Since we're not living there yet, I haven't posted the mailing address, but those interested can see some pictures on our website.
EDIT: I'm not sure why, but the SnapShot of our website still shows wedding pictures. If you follow the link, however, you'll see the house.
