Update of the ... month?
Aug. 12th, 2009 11:42 amIn no particular order:
Now that it's August, it actually feels like Summer. I'm not such a fan of this; July was just fine this year (when we rarely cracked 80°) except for the rain while I was trying to paint.
PoC is now back at work. His contract runs August-April. Mine runs mid-September to mid-May. Before he went back we had a good number of days where we didn't feel like working on the house (or were thwarted by weather) and got to play board games all day...I miss that, but I'm definitely more productive when he's at work. I think I feel like "since he's working, I can't just sit around and play Katamari all day." Not that this would happen otherwise, honest. But I've been pretty good about making myself lists of things that need to get done and taking care of them--even when they're fiddly things like 'return all that unused stuff to these 6 stores' that we've been meaning to get to for weeks!
I hope we'll get around to putting some updated house pictures on Flickr...someday.
[As an aside to the Katamari issue: I'm absolutely and completely terrible at video games. To date, I have played exactly one game all the way through: A Curious George game designed for...conservatively...7-year-olds. I have nearly completed Katamari Damacy--and have found all of the presets but one!--and have enjoyed it while still being pretty terrible at it.]
We went to Delaware for a wedding last weekend. It was nice--and while there, we discussed the wedding plans of two other couples we work with. (One is 4 months away; the other is a year or maybe two). Speaking of weddings--we celebrated our 2nd anniversary on the 4th. Mostly, this meant going out to dinner, since PoC had to work.
On the horizon: For Labor day, we'll visit PoC's grandmother and other relatives. I've never met them, as they were unable to make it to the wedding. Also sometime in September, I'll make another trip to VT to deliver the shelving units that PoC has been "comissioned" to build for his sister's house. (PoC probably won't go, because he'll be at work.)
That's about the size of things from here!
