We've seen some nice houses, and been too late/too poor to buy them.  Mostly too late, which is actually more frustrating!  But we keep looking at the new things that crop up on the market.  Syracuse is a unique market in the US, as the prices are NOT over-inflated (never were, really) and houses are still selling quite healthily--which means that any time something good crops up, it's gone quickly!

The most disturbing house we've seen yet is probably the one advertised as 1.5 baths.  One bathroom was a toilet in a closet.  Seriously.  I didn't even see it--apparently because I forgot to open the "closet" in that bedroom.  In the same house, the former owners? tenants? had left their entire collection of empty liquor bottles--some expensive stuff!--and also (among the trash they left on the kitchen counter) a brochure about the WIC food-assistance program.  Fear not, most of the houses we've seen have been much better!

In other news, many congratulations to [profile] ktkendrick, the first of my LJ-enabled friends to have a baby this summer!  (I'm sure she's too busy to be reading this any time soon, but we're still delighted)

Lastly, the more-than-a-little eclectic book meme:

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.  …Theoretically, I intend to read everything!
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
3a) Strikethrough the books you HATE Fortunately, the few books that I really loathe aren't on here.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ, so that your friends may either envy or pity you.  Or shrug indifferently.
