Surgery time

This is an update on pirateofcatan's shoulder-repair surgery today--not any surgery of mine! I figure most of his readers look here, too.

He was in the OR for about 2 1/2 hours. They used 3 screws (with washers!) to attach the pieces of his greater tuberosity back to his humerus. (No, we don't have the x-rays yet, but we'll post them when we do...).

Now we're back at home. He's not real comfortable--the neural block they put in has faded already, so he can feel all the pain of the individual 3 screws, the incision itself, and feeling/motion returning to the rest of his arm. I'm hoping most of this will pass in a couple of days--we'll see. Until then (and for a while) it's Percoset x2 and Ibuprofen @ 800mg every 8 hours.

I'll have to go to work tomorrow, but his mother and sister will be up here in rotation through the weekend, so at least someone can help him change the icewater in his cryocuff.

Well, when it rains it pours. My dog has two plates and four screws. No x-rays to post. At least Pirate has a film credit to his resume. Hope eveything is going well otherwise.

Best recovering wishes to Pirate! I send him all the post-surgery mojo I didn't need! (I made myself get off percoset two days after my surgery- probably dumb but that stuff made me So. Woozy. and. sleepy.) Glad you've got family in to help out.

I mostly take them so I can't count to three without using my fingers. Stupid screws and washers.
