updates on all sorts of things
Jun. 3rd, 2006 10:14 pmSomewhat better newses today, but still not great...
pirateofcatan's arm is slowly improving (for those who don't read his LJ). He can now move all of his fingers--both extending and contracting--and is beginning to be able to lift his hand with his wrist. It's all still really sore (unsurprisingly) and it takes a bit of planning to, say, put on a shirt. He did spend a few hours at work today, but left when it began hurting.
Many thanks to everyone who sent amusing links and words of encouragement!
Dad is still sick. He might go to the doctor on Monday. By then, he will have been sick for 7 days. That's Dad for you.
Mom is still in the hospital. They have determined that she does not seem to have cancer in her abdomen (liver/gallbladder/spleen). It appears, instead, that she has a Hepatitis B infection. They don't know where or when she got it (maybe from a blood transfusion?). With the hepatitis infection, they can't give her chemo because her liver is compromised. So, we're all relieved that there isn't any sign of cancer in the organs, but we're not sure how they will treat her cancer now. They'll do a liver biopsy on Monday if her platelet count is high enough, and I guess we'll know more after that.
Work at the new summer job (all 3 days of it) is fine so far. I think they're not quite sure what to do with me--my position is new this season, and I won't even have a light plot for another week and a half. There's only so much cleaning and organizing I can do in the meantime! (yes,
stagelx, I know you're laughing right now!)
