As I've mentioned before, my brother is now in South Africa with the US Peace Corps. I spoke to him by phone a couple of weeks ago (he only arrived there on February 4th); at that time it sounded like he wouldn't have any internet access until May (or later). He had started a livejournal account before leaving the US, in hopes that he could keep in touch with all sorts of folks that way (and, unlike Facebook, it doesn't require a membership...)
Unexpectedly, he put up two posts yesterday--so I guess he's at least occasionally able to get on the internet. I don't know how often he'll be able to post, but if you're interested in South Africa, the Peace Corps, volunteerism, Zulu languages, or just in finding out what things he wishes he had brought with him (aluminum foil and lots of maps are on the list so far).... check out his lj:
kyix I don't think he'll mind being friended (and commented to) by people he hasn't met; just keep in mind that he may not reply very often!
